Developed and released over the last few days,
MobileScrobbler is the first AudioScrobbler / Last.FM client that brings decent scrobbling capabilities to the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.
For those you not offay with the way in which Last.FM works, basically, whilst listening to your favourite songs in iTunes, MobileScrobbler allows you to scrobble your taste to a pre-created profile by sending the track title, artist name, and album title to the Last.FM web services. Last.FM then uses this information to suggest new music, new friends, and upcoming events by artists you like and listen to.When back at home you can also take advantage of their web radio and tune into custom and personalized online radio streams on the Last.FM site.
To get MobileScrobbler installed visit the MobileScrobbler web site and download the installer app to your device, then follow:
The installer will then reload the sources list, and you should find MobileScrobbler under the "Network" category.
Once done, MobileScrobbler will run in the background, placing a musical note in the tool bar to let you know it is up and running. From there simply start listening to music. It's that simple!
In reality this is an unendorsed Apple app, that requires a jail-broken Apple iPhone or iPod Touch in order to actually work. At the same time it is an app, that although uses the audoscrobbler architecture, is not endorsed by Last.FM either.
Ultimately what you do with your device is your choice, though jail-breaking it will affect the warranty etcetera, but this is a cool slice of FREE software that puts more power in users' hands and allows them to reach out and do more with their music listening data online than ever before.
